The 13th annual World Vegetarian Festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park.
Thanks to it also being the 40th meeting of the International Vegetarian Congress, vegans and vegetarians will attend the festival from all over the world.
The public is invited to attend the lectures and workshops on Saturday and Sunday where there will be plenty of food to sample or buy as well as Raw & Cooking Demos, a Children’s Corner, A Green Film Festival, and Live Entertainment, including Ms Celery 2012!
Woah. Did I hear that right? Ms. Celery!? Who is THAT? So a little Google search reveals that it’s Rasa Vitalia, a visual and performing artist from San Francisco. She led a procession of vegetarians in the Cesar Chavez Parade in April, sharing her slogan “Eat your veggies & you’ll look sexy, too!”
Whether you’re vegeterian, vegan or still a meat eater, there’s programming at the festival that will appeal to anyone who’s interested in healthy eating. Here’s just a short list of the dozens of programs/lectures that are being offered:
Raw Demo: “Forget Cooking! Spectacular Soups without Cooking”, “Sustained Vegan Advocacy – A Revolutionary Approach to Animal Consumption”, “Digestion Made Easy: Journey thru Your Amazing Digestive System”, “Whole Foods: The Secret to Hunger Free Permanent Weight Loss”, and Demo “Stuffed Winter Squash with Flavors of India & Seasonal Ingredients”.
