CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
On Wednesday Night I provided the San Francisco Police Commission with a state of the district presentation at Roosevelt Middle School . Preparing for the presentation requires scrutinizing our response to calls, how many calls and the type of crimes that are occurring in our district. I am pleased to report that year to date there has been a reduction in violent crimes. There is however, an increase in theft from vehicles, auto thefts and a slight increase in the number of burglaries. I cannot emphasize enough, the importance of locking your garage doors to prevent bicycle thefts and please do not leave your valuables in the car especially now when many people have their vehicles loaded with gifts for the holidays. Richmond Station has focused a great deal of our efforts on reducing injury traffic accidents. The Police Commission was pleased to see that injury accidents in our district have decreased significantly.

Our next Community meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 6pm. It will be in the Community Room, here at Richmond Station, 461 6th Ave. (NOTE TIME CHANGE)

On 11/25/12 at 9:45am, officers were called to a gas station at 24th Ave and Geary regarding a male on the premise that was bothering customers and refusing to leave. On 11/25/12 at 1:55pm, officers were called to the 1000 block of Great Highway regarding a homeless person who had threatened an employee of the restaurant. The employee told the officer that this male had been at the grassy area of the restaurant and was acting inappropriately around the customers, swearing and dancing around. The employee asked the male to leave and the suspect began to threaten to kill the employee. Another employee took a photo of the suspect who did finally leave. Officers located the suspect at Cabrillo and LaPlaya and when asked to take his hand out of his pockets, the male started swearing at them. He continued to ignore the officers who finally had to forcefully remove his hands from his pockets. The officers located a knife in his front jacket pocket, along with a crack pipe in his pants pocket. The 48 year old male was charged with the threats, a narcotic violation and resisting/delaying an officer.
On 11/25/12 at 5:37pm, several callers contacted 911 regarding a drunk driver in the area of the Great Highway and Lincoln Way . When they arrived, the victim pointed out the suspect and said that he was still in possession of the knife. The officers ordered the male to the ground several times but the suspect refused and began to reach for his waist area. The officers grabbed the male, detained him and located a knife in front pants pocket. The victim told the officers that the suspect had come into the bar and asked for a drink. The suspect tried to talk to two women in the bar and when they refused to acknowledge him, the suspect became irate and began to spit at them. The bartender asked the suspect to leave and escorted him outside. While outside, the suspect pulled the knife out and brandished it at the bartender. The bartender went back inside and called 911.
