Mr. Josh Gray, the “Rate Payer Advocate” and Consultant representing the Department of Public Works (DPW), will discuss Recology rate issues with our Richmond residents.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE INCIDENTS THAT OCCURRED IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK:
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY WITH A GUN

The victim in this incident was walking in the area when he approached a black vehicle parked on the corner. As he reached the intersection, a suspect got out of the vehicle’s front passenger seat and grabbed the victim’s shoulder. The suspect told the victim to give him money, and simulated a gun in his jacket. The victim did not comply with the demands, and instead broke free of the suspects grip. The victim ran away from the area and the vehicle fled from the scene.
The suspect is described as a white male between 20-25 years of age. He is approximately 5’09” tall, 150 lbs and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants. The vehicle is described as a black 4-door sedan.
The incident is still under investigation.
ARREST: WARRANT ARREST; FIREARM POSSESSION BY PROHIBITED PERSON

A vigilant Richmond District Officer observed a suspicious vehicle at this location. The Officer contacted the occupant of the vehicle and discovered the suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The Officer also saw narcotics paraphernalia on the car seats and detected an odor of narcotics coming from within the vehicle.
Additional Officers responded to assist with the investigation. Officers located a trove of illegal and incriminating items. These included a scale, weights, various firearm ammunition, various suspected narcotics, and a loaded firearm. The suspect was prohibited from possessing the firearm, as a result of his criminal past. He was subsequently booked at County Jail on multiple felony charges.
BURGLARY, FORCED ENTRY; FOUND PROPERTY

A burglary plot was foiled, when a Richmond District resident intervened and confronted the suspect. The suspect could not have looked more suspicious, wearing a ski mask and dark clothing as he peered in through people’s windows. When confronted, he casually informed the concerned neighbor that he was, “Just looking,” and walked away.
Police Officers responded to the area to search for the suspect, who eluded Officers on this occasion. However, nearby they located laptop computers and other items inside a pillow case which they believed may be related to the incident and abandoned. The Officers were able to track down the owner of the items, who stated that they had been stolen from inside her home. Officers responded to the victim’s home and confirmed that it had been burglarized.
The suspect in the incident is described as a white male aged between 40-45, 6’00” tall with a medium build, wearing all dark clothing and a ski mask. The incident is still being investigated, and we’re confident an arrest will be made in the near future.
ARREST: BURGLARY, HOT PROWL; POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS

A bungling and noisy burglar disturbed a Richmond District resident when he was unable to force open their doors in the early morning hours. The resident called 9-1-1 and provided the information to dispatch. Richmond District Officers arrived shortly afterwards.
The Officers quickly located the suspect standing in the doorway next to a large trash can. The suspect stated that he lived in the building, but was unable to substantiate his claim. While speaking with the Officers, various tools commonly used by burglary suspects fell out of the suspect’s pockets. The Officers looked inside the trash cans and located several unusual items inside. They appeared to be personal belongings, not trash. A neighbor approached the Officers and stated that the trash can belonged to him. They later determined that the neighbor had been the victim of a burglary, and the contents of the trash can were his property.
A criminal history check of the suspect revealed that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, and that he was on probation. The suspect was booked at County Jail on his warrant, probation violation, and several other felony burglary charges.
The suspect has since been charged with 4 additional burglaries which recently occurred in the same area. This comes after the Richmond Station Investigation Team’s meticulous investigation of this incident, and a string of similar burglaries. Once again, great work!
