HERE ARE SOME OF THE INCIDENTS THAT OCCURRED IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK:
ARREST: WARRANT ARREST; RESISTING OR DELAYING POLICE OFFICER DUTIES
GEARY BOULEVARD & 39TH AVENUE
01/20/2017 1:46 AM
Residents of an apartment building were concerned when an intoxicated male, who did not live in the building, was wandering the hallways. The residents called the police to check on the suspect, and provided a detailed description.
The Officers responded and quickly located the suspect on the stairs inside the building. He appeared to be intoxicated when the Officers spoke with him. He also had no identification, and gave the Officers several different dates of birth. In order to verify his identity, he was transported to Richmond Station where he was identified by his fingerprints.
Officers discovered that the suspect had been lying about his identity, and he was actually a wanted person with five warrants for his arrest. All of the warrants were theft related, which could certainly explain why he was inside the building. The suspect was booked at County Jail on his warrants.
TRAFFIC COLLISION; HIT AND RUN
GEARY BOULEVARD & 22ND AVENUE
01/20/2017 7:12 AM
The victim in this collision was crossing the street within the crosswalk at this location. As she approached the curb, a vehicle making a turn struck her, causing her to fall to the ground. The victim suffered a possible broken leg and may have lost consciousness as a result of the collision.
Multiple witnesses stated they saw the suspect hit the pedestrian with their vehicle, back up momentarily as though they were about to stop, and then drive away. The driver did not stop to check on the victim or provide their information to the victim, as required by the California Vehicle Code.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. We hope she makes a speedy recovery.
The suspect is described only as an Asian male. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white Toyota SUV with a partial license plate of 7MHX.
This suspect will be facing felony hit and run charges when they are apprehended. The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the SFPD.
ARREST: TRAFFIC COLLISION; DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE; TRAFFIC ARREST
PARK PRESIDIO BYPASS & CROSSOVER DRIVE
01/22/2017 2:29 AM
Richmond District Officers responded to a vehicle collision with reported injuries at this location. The responding Officers arrived to find a white Toyota Scion resting on its side in the far right lane of the road. The vehicle appeared to have rolled over after hitting a light post. The vehicle had two occupants at the time of the collision. The passenger of the vehicle suffered serious injuries, and was unconscious when the Officers arrived on scene.
The Officers began their collision investigation, and immediately recognized that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver exhibited clear signs of intoxication and admitted to having recently consumed alcoholic beverages.
Both the driver and passenger were transported to hospital for medical treatment. At the hospital, the driver of the vehicle submitted to a chemical test to determine his blood-alcohol content.
What may have began as a fun night ended horribly for these two individuals. The passenger suffered serious injuries in the collision. The driver suffered minor injuries, but was arrested for felony DUI. The moral is very simple: Do not drink and drive.
ARREST: RECKLESS EVADING POLICE; RECKLESS DRIVING; THROWING ITEM FROM MOVING VEHICLE
PARK PRESIDIO BOULEVARD & BALBOA STREET
01/24/2017 1:04 AM
When Richmond District Officers observed a vehicle traveling at high speed down Geary Boulevard, they decided to stop the vehicle to issue a citation. The driver of the vehicle had other ideas, and thought it would be clever to run red lights and stop signs to evade the Officers behind them. The occupants of the vehicle also decided to throw cases of beer from the vehicle while the Officers were attempting to catch up with them.
The vehicle eventually stopped, and the Officers made contact with the vehicle’s occupants. One of the occupants was a juvenile, and the others all very young adults. All of the passengers in the vehicle were released from the scene without criminal charges. The driver of the vehicle had a different fate.
The driver was interviewed by Officers conducting the investigation. He openly admitted to blowing through red lights and stop signs, as well as traveling at speeds as high as 100 mph to evade the police who were trying to stop his vehicle. Although he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time; he very likely could have been later in the night had Officers not stopped the vehicle.
The vehicle was subsequently towed, and the driver was booked at County Jail for felony reckless driving.

“Although he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time; he very likely could have been later in the night had Officers not stopped the vehicle.”
Clearly I think that the driver in this incident should face serious consequences for endangering a great number of lives. What is less clear to me is why the writer, whoever they may be, felt the need to make this unnecessary assumption.
I agree with SAM. It is Trump-like speculation to presume what additional wrongdoings the driver might commit in the future were it not for the police intervention.
Perhaps it was the ‘cases of beer that were thrown from the vehicle during the police chase’ ? Not the worst assumption in the world, but I hear you, an assumption nonetheless.
