As you may have read on the blog a couple of weeks ago, the Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist at 300 Funston Avenue at Clement will have new tenants soon. The Internet Archive will be moving their offices from the Presidio into the church and adjoining reading room offices.
The Internet Archive posted a couple of video tours of 300 Funston which you can watch below. I have never been inside the church so I found it interesting.
The church was originally onhealthy zyban online founded in 1923. It will hold its final service on Thanksgiving Day, but will open its doors for a free organ recital next Monday night, November 16th at 7pm. The concert will include several of the congregation’s favorite vocal solos and a few solo pieces by organist Brian Swager.
A commenter told me that there is also a program on Sunday, November 15 at 3pm. The San Francisco City Chorus will perform the Brahms ‘Requiem’.

Interesting. I’ve alway wondered what it looked like inside. Any idea what is happening to said congregation? Is it disbanding?
Hi NorCalRichRes – Not sure what the congregation will do, but there are other Christ Science churches in the city where they can attend services: http://web.filemaker7hosting.com/fmi/iwp/cgi?-db=Churches&-loadframes

The San Francisco City Chorus will be presenting the Brahms ‘Requiem’ on Sunday Nov. 15 @ 3PM.
The space has a nearly perfect acoustic for choral music and a very fine pipe organ.
If not the first time, it is definitely one of the few times a choral concert has been performed in this lovely space. Don’t miss out on an historic event!
Thank you aChristianScientist! I added that program info to the post.
