Thanks to RichmondSFBlog reader Casey for the tip. Lincoln Park Playground is now open. Stop by to check out the new play structures, seat walls, tables, swings and more.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place next Friday, April 23 at 4pm. Enjoy!

No dogs? Seriously? Give me a break. How about “Owners must pick up after their dogs.”
Good luck enforcing that rule.
This looks wonderful! We live in the area are delighted to have another playground option. The equipment and overall design look awesome.
How about follow the rules and be a good example to our children?
Yes, keep it litter-free, and don’t put any bread there for pigeons waiting in droves on the other side of the street… That’s been going on for years!
I’m glad they’ve added these common courtesy rules. This is my kids closest favorite playground. the old equipment was dangerous and dirty, so it’s great to have nice new stuff, even if there is no more sand. I like the “only adults with kids” rule because I used to see a lot of drug burnouts and creepy lonesters hanging about while kids are playing. its too bad they have to ban dogs but I can’t say I’m surprised after seeing personally countless times idiots letting their huge dogs run wild near small children playing. I doubt the city will enforce this stuff, of course, but I see it more for what it likely is, i.e., a way for the city to help the cops when they happen to be there, and even more to help the city fend off any potential related lawsuits (CYA). Funny I was there first day with my kids and there was a lot of kids there and there were several dog-walkers with no kids just blatantly ignoring the “Keep Off The Grass” etc, and one of the little kids from the top of the playground was yelling at the top of his lungs “Keep Off The Grass Can’t You Read The Sign” over and over, ha, it was a little funny. Last thing, FYI, I saw a coyote on the path less than a hundred yards north of that playground only 2 weeks ago. I also saw the GGNR people have a coyote danger sign out at the seacliffs there so obviously they know about this. Nobody has been at that playground all year and the coyotes have moved in. There’s a couple preschools nearby there too. Watch out
Actually I rather dislike the “no adults without kids” rule at all of the playgrounds in the city. Why? Well, I don’t have kids and I certainly don’t like kids, but as a non-creepy, non-junkie taxpayer sometimes I do want to go and have a nice swing. There are plenty of times that playgrounds aren’t being used by children, how about we let the adults use them (respectfully) as well.
Not only am I going to go hang out on the grassy area without a kid, but I’m going to bring my dog with me too.
Parks should be enjoyed by all and all should be respectful enough to leash their dog, pick up after their dog, etc.
While most people with dogs are responsible owners, and DO pick up after them, we all know the fact is that some don’t. Like everything in life, a few bad apples spoil the barrel, and WON’T pick up after their dog, and will LET them dig holes, and WILL be off leash and flatten some poor 1 1/2 year old kid. I have a dog too and think it’s a shame that you aren’t allowed to bring them there anymore (at least to the grass), but sometimes the City has to draw a line to protect it’s investment and the safety of kids.
I’m new to the Richmond District and this blog.
I’m reading this post about a new park opening, yet the author fails to mention where the park is in the district.
How about a location??
I’ve read several posts on this blog that omit crucial information for the post topic.. such as an address/location, or historic/relevant context (link to previous mentions of events, etc).
Thank you!
Hi new neighbor! Lincoln Park is located at 33rd Avenue and Clement Street, at the base of Lincoln Park. There were a lot of earlier stories on this which is probably why I left out the location. I’ll try to be more diligent in the future.
Hope you’re enjoying the neighborhood!

Did they forget to include a water fountain? We were looking forward to one.
To Tim: No dogs allowed means no dogs allowed. Dogs bite, can scare kids and they cr@p all over the place. So when you show up with your dog be prepared to have the police called to have it removed (along with you)
To Mr. M:
Okay! My dog and I can’t wait to meet you! We’re there pretty much every day! See you soon!
Now if we can just get the neighborhood involved in what to do with the old Albertson’s building.
As a board member of the YMCA, we would LOVE to have that facility for our new location; a pool, a community center, just imagine!
I’ve heard Whole Foods, then Fresh and Easy, now what?…
Hi Julie – Last I heard on it was from Supervisor Mar at a March 25 event (https://richmondsfblog.com/2010/03/25/supervisor-mar-takes-questions-from-young-voters/). Looks like Fresh & Easy is out, but there’s interest from Trader Joe’s and CVS.
Someone saw the doors open today while out at the playground reopening but not clear what was going on.
The YMCA would be amazing there. You should contact Supervisor Mar for more info:
