If you’ve been by the Richmond Library on 9th or 10th Avenue, you’ve seen how great it’s looking! This Saturday, May 16, the library will finally re-open to the public. We can’t wait!
This renovation is part of the SF Public Library’s Branch Library Improvement Program which will affect 16 locations city-wide. The Richmond renovation is one of the biggest and includes additional space, a new program room, a dedicated teen area, beautiful landscaping (incl. a new playground!) and an enhanced 10th Avenue entrance.
The grand re-opening celebration will kick off on May 16 with lion dancers and musicians in front of the renovated branch at 351 9th Avenue. Festivities begin at 1 p.m., and the library will officially open at 2 p.m.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned with Mayor Gavin Newsom, City Librarian Luis Herrera, Supervisor Eric Mar, State Senator Mark Leno and other city and state officials. Please note that 9th Avenue will be closed between Clement Street and Geary Boulevard to through traffic during the event. Official Press Release
