Shops still shut after water main break

On June 11, a water main broke during street construction at California and 22nd Avenue and flooded the intersection. Two businesses at 5950-5954 California Street sustained flood damage.

I was sorry to see that both are still closed while I was out there today. Cal’s Pet Supply has a “temporarily closed” sign on its window and signs that say they’ll re-open soon but don’t know when. Next door is Therapeutic Bodywork. Both shops have exposed floors, awaiting repairs.

Cal’s Pet Supply will be having a sidewalk sale next Saturday, June 27 from 10am to 2pm, so stop by to pick up some treats for your favorite pet.

  1. Thanks for the post. Roy and Phillip next door had to contend with a 14″ main break with 1,400 gallons per minute for about 40 minutes. Hardest hit are the neighborhood pooches who stop at the store for the usual treat and can’t figure why the friendly owner or workers are not greeting them. Please stop by to at least say howdy at the sidewalk sale that will raise some cash until the arguing over the city/insurance settlement happens.

  2. The sidewalk sale on Saturday was bigger than could be hoped for. Roy the owner asked that I relay thanks to everyone for the good wishes, stopping buy and the many purchases!
