SFFD was busy today with fires on Clement, Cabrillo

RichmondSFBlog readers were on the scene today at two fires in the neighborhood.

The first fire took place this afternoon around 4:15pm on Cabrillo near 45th Avenue. The fire was inside a former, now vacant laundromat next to Hakka restaurant. Reader Bob H. reported that four fire engines responded to the call and there was visible smoke coming from the building. Firefighters had to break the glass on the front to gain entry.

The second fire occurred this evening at 2448 Clement Street near 26th Avenue around 9:30pm, in the same building that houses the Hard Knox Cafe. Reader Grace reported that it was a small apartment fire in which there did not appear to be any injuries, as paramedics arrived and left fairy quickly. The cafe was still open but closing down for the night.

Thanks to Bob and Grace for the reports!

  1. We saw the smoke for the first fire from 43rd and Balboa– it was pretty thick!

  2. hadn’t seen much activity at the laundromat lately – but just Tuesday there were a couple guys removing some stuff – looked like a washer or two and maybe a water heater they were loading in the back of a pick-up truck – maybe some of that disconnected wiring..??? – (but, hard to imagine the power’s on in there – or would they be required to keep it on)

  3. the trucks were back last night (2/3) to attend to another fire in the back of this same building…

we saw the same two guys working inside that Steve did…
