Photos: New Coot chicks spotted at North Lake in Golden Gate Park

Local nature photographer David Cruz, of the Coyote pup pics fame, sent us over some more great photos and video of Golden Gate Park wildlife.

Cruz spotted at least half a dozen American Coot chicks in the North Lake of Golden Gate Park. The American Coot is also known as a “Mud Hen”, so named because of the way in which their heads bob when they walk or swim (Wikipedia).

“The adults were seen diving, retrieving green weeds and pond roots for their calling young,” he wrote.

Thanks David for the great pics!
