The California Statewide Special Election is this Tuesday, May 19. Don’t forget to stop by your neighborhood polling place between 8am and 7pm on Tuesday to cast your vote. Voter guide | Sample ballot | Find your polling place
While this election doesn’t hold the same excitement as last November’s, every measure has its day so please make your vote heard. According to an article in Sunday’s Chronicle, “most election officials around the state will be pleased if the turnout stays above the 36 percent seen in the November 1993 vote, the lowest turnout for any of the five statewide special elections held in the past 50 years.”
Interestingly, the Chronicle recommends a YES vote on all six ballot initiatives, stating “If those measures go down, the options [for the state budget crisis] become excruciating”.
So will you vote? And if you’re not voting, why not? I hope it’s not because you haven’t registered to vote. If you’re not sure of your voter registration status, check here.
