William Shatner film festival at the 4-Star – July 23

Put the William Shatner of Priceline out of your mind and travel back in time. Thrillville presents Shatfest: A Tribute to William Shatner, taking place at the 4-Star Theater on Thursday, July 23 (23rd & Clement, 7:30pm).

The film festival features two flicks from the glorious polyester decade, Impulse (1974) and Kingdom of the Spiders (1977). The festivities start at 7:30pm and tickets are $12 for the double feature plus a live burlesque show by the Twilight Vixen Revue, and a special appearance by the Shatner Butt Girls (Who knew?!).

Purchase tickets in advance or check out the event poster.

IMPULSE (1974): A paranoid, leisure-suit-wearing conman/gigolo named Matt Stone seduces lonely women, bilks them of their savings via an investment scam, then kills them. When he begins seeing an attractive widow, her daughter Tina becomes suspicious of his motives.

KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS (1977): Investigating the mysterious deaths of a number of farm animals, vet Rack Hansen discovers that his town lies in the path of hoards of migrating tarantulas. Before he can take action, the streets are overrun by killer spiders, trapping a small group of towns folk in a remote hotel.

  1. Considering that Shatner’s “Trekkie days” began in 1966 with the original Star Trek series, movies from the ’70s are hardly part of his PRE-Trekkie days…

  2. Oh bad on me! Didn’t do my research properly. I will update – thanks!
