I never actually made it there, so I missed it when Rohan Lounge, located at 3809 Geary between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, closed this spring.
Today, EaterSF reports that the space will soon be home to Mazu, “a slightly-different Pan-Asian concept”.
The new spot is run by three ladies: Kathryn, and sisters Leah and Silma with Silma heading up the kitchen. Leah and Kathryn were waitresses/bartenders at Rohan once upon a time. Mazu should be opening up the week of August 31.
The Yelp reviews for Rohan averaged 4 stars, with reviewers heaping on compliments like “I love this bar!”, “calamari and soju cocktails were on point”, and “AWESOME Wednesday night happy hour events”. So let’s hope the new owners can bring back some of that greatness with Mazu.
