Oil up that chain and pump up those tires! This Sunday is the 3rd Annual Family Bike Day in Golden Gate Park.
Put on by the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, the event is geared towards bikers of all ages. Enjoy a wide array of bike-tastic activities, all while enjoying the car-free Sunday atmosphere.
The festivities will take place from 11am until 3pm at JFK Drive in the Doughboy Picnic Area (north of Stow Lake and east of the Transverse Drive overpass).
Here are the planned events:
– Bike “Road”eo: (11am-2:30pm) – Teaches the younger crowd safe riding techniques – complete with helmets and loaner bikes.
– Freedom From Training Wheels: (11:30am-1:30pm) – This group effort attempts to send off new two-wheel riders into the world.
– Family Bike Games & Safety Clinic (12:30pm and 1:30pm) – Safety lessons given by licensed cycling instructor with games and Q&A
– Bike Scavenger Hunt (12:30-2:00pm) – Enjoy a self-directed scavenger hunt on bike, perfect for kids (8+) and a guardian.
Other activities to look forward to include the Family Biking Showcase (12:30-1:30pm), Family Bike Parade (2:30-3:00pm), and Free Basic Bike Maintenance (11:00am-2:30pm).
