New toy store “Kookle” opens this Saturday; save 5% on your purchase

I stopped by 6 Clement Street yesterday to say hi to Kookle, a new toy store for kids and pets that opens this weekend.

Owner Michelle Sidney, a resident of the inner Richmond, was hard at work unpacking her inventory and setting up the store. “We have a lot of work to do before Saturday!” she said as the Fedex guy arrived with another huge shipment.

This is Michelle’s first retail store but not her first foray into toys. The Kookle name comes from a set of paint-your-own nesting dolls she created.

While you won’t find a Barbie dream house in Kookle or lots of cheap, throwaway toys, you will find a wide selection of well-made, interactive toys like board games, puzzles, science kits, hand-crafted cars, construction kits and more.

The store caters to all ages – babies and toddlers, and older kids. There’s even a few toys adults will get into, like the shiny set of Boule balls I came across.

There’s traditional toys too – stuffed animals, stomp rockets and a nice wall of lower priced stocking stuffers. Kids will love it in Kookle. There’s even a chalkboard on one wall where they can get creative.

Kookle also has a small section of pet toys and outerwear for dogs, so be sure to bring the pooch along when you visit.

Kookle is located at 6 Clement Street and opens this Saturday at 10am (their website is here but still under construction). You can save 5% off your purchase when you print out the blue card in this article and bring it in to the store (click the blue card to print it separately from the article).

Congratulations to Kookle on its grand opening! It’s great to have a toy store in the neighborhood again. If you stop by to check it out, tell Michelle the RichmondSFBlog sent you!

  1. Boule! If anyone is listening, that would be a nice Christmas gift for me.

  2. Superb toys in this store – not just fun, but good for a child’s development too. I’m so glad Michelle opened up here before Christmas!

  4. I found this toy store on Yelp and went into get some toys for a friend’s son’s birthday. Owner, Michelle, was there and gift wrapped for free. Easy shopping; no fuss. Yay 🙂
