This Friday evening from 5:30-8pm at the Presidio Middle School Auditorium, the Richmond District Neighborhood Center is hosting their annual Spring Arts Showcase.

The event consists of five arts disciplines – visual arts and puppetry drama, dance, music and poetry – that are performed and executed by over 300 students from Richmond District public elementary schools. The showcase is a unique opportunity for local families to experience art in a non-traditional way, and it provides student artists with the chance to perform in different settings.

This theme for this year’s showcase is “Mapping our Journey,” and families are encouraged to pick up a map at the event entrance to start their adventure.

First up is an outdoor performance of drumming, dancing and a puppet parade, followed by indoor performances that will feature short films of marionettes made in the puppetry class, collaborative poetry, and lively dance and music performances.

And thanks to a buffet donation from Panda Express restaurant, families can enjoy a tasty after party in the school cafeteria.

The showcase begins at 5:30pm at the Presidio Middle School Auditorium at 450 30th Avenue, between Geary and California. Admission to the event is free.
