This Saturday and Sunday, the San Francisco Orchid Society is hosting “Orchids in the Park”, a festival devoted to the beauty of the orchid.
This is your chance to browse rare orchid species and other lovely blooms. Proceeds will benefit orchid conservation and the Conservatory of Flowers. There will also be demonstrations, lectures, and a raffle.
Orchids will also be available for sale. If you’ve ever purchased an orchid, you know that getting them home in one piece can be a challenge. To help with that, this year’s festival features a “Orchid Concierge”:
If you purchase orchids at the show, you can leave them with the Orchid Concierge, go retrieve your car from wherever you have it parked, and drive to the front of the Hall of Flowers, where the concierge will help you load your orchids into your car.
The Orchids in the Park festival runs from 10am until 5pm each day at the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors; kids under 16 are free.
