CAPTAIN KEITH SANFORD’S MESSAGE
On September 6th, 2011 at 7pm I met with my Police Advisory Board and discussed numerous issues from the identification of traffic concerns, enforcement operations throughout the district, police staffing, our recent Police Commission Presentation held at Roosevelt Middle School on August 31,2011. We will focus on traffic concerns around our numerous schools in the morning and afternoons. We have identified Geary Blvd. between Arguello around the Institute on Aging Senior Center for an enforcement operation to be held within the next couple of weeks.

We have implemented a Vehicle Tampering/Burglary Operation in the Cliff House area and in the Golden Gate Park. We’ve been successful with the arrests of four suspects during our operation in the past two weeks. Today we arrested an individual in possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a gun and a parole warrant violation for Burglary, on 17th Ave.

We have the commitment from representatives from Rec & Park, MTA, Outside Lands, Park Rangers and Hardly S. Bluegrass for our Police Community Police Forum meeting on September 20, 2011 at 7pm. We’ll have the opportunity to interact in a proactive manner in discussion of venues past and present in the Golden Gate Park. I look forward to finding positive resolutions to concerns by the residents, city government agencies and the organizers during our meeting. Refreshments will be provided.

This past weekend we had ceremonies in remembrance of 9-11 and all of the heroes who gave their lives during such a tragic time in our history. This was the ten year anniversary of the 9-11 incident. The Police and Fire Mass held on Sunday, 09/11/2011 at St. Monica’s Church was filled to capacity and celebrated the commitment of all our citizens in service to our country.

The SFPD and SFFD Associations held a 9-11 service on 09/10/2011 at City Hall remembering all the loss of lives of citizens, fire fighters and police officers as well as all of those who stood strong in their efforts during the 9-11 incident ten years ago. In attendance representing Congress, Nancy Pelosi, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, SFPOA President Gary Delagnes, SFFD Assc. President Tom O’Connor, SFFD Chief Joanne Hayes White and SFPD Chief Greg Suhr.

The PCRF (Police Community Relations Forum) will be held on Sept. 20th at 1pm and 7pm. Discussion topics will be GG Park related concerts, crime and traffic issues/open agenda. Refreshments will be served at both meetings. The meetings will be held at Richmond Station.

On 09/04 at 8:00pm, the caller was on an inbound #2 MUNI bus. He was sitting in the rear and observed the two suspects passing a knife back and forth to each other, opening and closing it. The caller also over heard the two talking about a white I-phone and following the caller off of the bus when he got off. The caller called 911 and gave a description of the suspects and direction of the coach. 1. Sorry, I can’t resist, but when you write about a MUNI masturbation in progress (what’s the numeric call in for that one), it’s probably better to just write that the suspect “exited the bus” versus “…the suspect also got off”. hahaha. ok, I’m done (maybe you have a sense of humor too…good one).
Thanks for the report and great work.
btw…where do all these damn car thieves come from? You catch ’em and have to let ’em go back into the wild again? Maybe the auto glass shops are hiring them.

  2. @Westender – Ha, nice catch! I can’t take credit – the blotter is posted verbatim from what the station sends out. So someone at the Richmond District station has a good sense of humor 🙂

Ugh, I know, I guess cars are just easy targets. NEVER leave anything visible. It’s just a an invitation – even if it’s loose change in the cupholder!
