SFPD seeking help with attempted murder at 9th & Geary early Thurs. morning

Early on the morning of Thanksgiving, at 2:45am, SFPD reports that an attempted homicide occurred at the Shell gas station on the corner of 9th Avenue and Geary.

The incident started at the Jack in the Box located two blocks up on 11th and Geary. Two men got into an altercation at the restaurant, but they were eventually separated and both left the premises.

Jack in the Box is one of the last establishments that is open 24 hours a day on the west end of the city, and is a popular destination after the Richmond District bars close at 2am. Earlier this year, the restaurant worked with the SFPD and the community to clean up its act.

After the fight broke up, one man walked on his own to the Shell gas station located on 9th and Geary. The other man, described as a mixed race or Latin male, 18-24 years old, with short black hair and a manicured beard was then seen getting into a black Mazda CX type SUV with possible front end damage, and twelve spoke sports rims.

The driver then drove his vehicle into the gas station, striking the other man with his car, and then fled the scene. The victim received life threatening injuries.

Police released the photos below of the suspect, who was photographed at Jack in the Box during the initial incident.

The San Francisco Police Criminal Investigations Unit is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in this attempted homicide. Witnesses or persons with information are asked to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or “Text-a-Tip” at TIP411 from their cell phones. Please include “SFPD” in the beginning of the text message.

  1. That is way too creepy, my husband and frequent that gas station; and we have late night shake runs to the Jack and the Box. Hopefully they find the assailant. Hopefully a speedy recovery to the victim.

  2. Jack has a lot of trouble with the late night crowd, and this happened as the SFPD is trying to clean up the venue. Maybe close Jack at night?

Anyway, the photos and vehicle description should help get the perp in custody soon. The mug shots are crystal clear, lest he rearranges his face, hides in a cave forever, or flees to another planet. I got TIP411 ready-to-dial! Sanford will have perp in the slammer soon enough. ‘Doesn’t look good for the victim, though.

  3. Sure would like to know:

Did anyone at Jack catch what the fight was about?

So what was the victim doing at the gas station?

    Was the gas station open?

Did the perp get the front end damage from hitting the victim or, did he already have the damage?

What was the description of the victim? old, young, male, female?

    Who took the perp’s photos?

  4. Did anyone at Jack catch what the fight was about? Victim was drunk and acting a fool

So what was the victim doing at the gas station? The article is not correct. His friend pulled him away and left jack in the box together

Was the gas station open? Yes

What was the description of the victim? old, young, male, female? 30’s male

  5. The victim is my childhood friend. He is an ex-Marine with a wife. No one deserves this!

  6. NEWSFLASH!

The majority of people in that Jack in the Box have consumed alcohol. Drunk, sober, hungry, or “acting a fool”, DOES NOT justify this malicious behavior.

  7. a picture of someone lying in a pool of thier own blood doesn’t seem much like local news to me, more something for puriently morbid viewing. we all know he was run over by a car. if the editor is into leaving stuff like that up on this blog, maybe i should start taking and posting up pictures of our local roadkill too. just a consideration.

  8. Huh? We have gone there now and then for a late night shake, because nothing else was open, And no, we weren’t drinking prior to said shake runs.
