Neighborhood cartoonist on display at the 540 Club starting Friday

“The Pink Elephants of 540 Club” by Andy George

Andy George works as a server at Q on Clement Street, dishing up the gourmet comfort food that the restaurant is noted for. But George has another sideline in the neighborhood – as a cartoonist.

Beginning this Friday at the 540 Club on Clement, George will premiere over thirty original comics and illustrations that have been inspired by the city stories he’s gathered, especially from those he refers to as “the diverse Clement Street crowd”.

George, originally from Colorado, is also the man behind the monthly murals that adorn the walls in Q. He creates illustrations for holidays or major events like Outside Lands.

George’s collection, which will be on display at the 540 Club (540 Clement) throughout the summer, is called “This is Not My Juice”. This Friday night at 8pm, the bar will kick off the show with a casual gallery opening.

Stop in to check out George’s creations that capture the vibrancy and humor of San Francisco, and our own inner Richmond District. And if you go to eat at Q, be sure to ask to sit in his section. 😉
