Photographer David Cruz sent us these photos of a Pied-billed Grebe with its chicks in Golden Gate Park’s North Lake on Sunday. David says the chicks like to sleep and hang out on the parents’ backs.
Fun fact on the Grebe: They rarely fly, instead preferring to escape danger by diving. [Wikipedia]
