Ah Ocean Beach, you are such a temptress to the surfer with your winter waves and crisp sun-filled skies…

For the second time in three days, a surfer had to be rescued from the rocks near the north end of Ocean Beach around lunchtime.

Being a holiday, it was a slow news day, so media outlets seemed overly interested in the incident (SFAppeal, SF Gate).

In one of the photos taken by David Cruz (below), the stranded surfer can be seen giving a thumbs up to not one, but three news helicopters that were circling overhead (Cliff House diners must have loved that!).

Long story short, the surfer was met by a 47 foot Coast Guard boat that scooped him up after he re-entered the water. He was the deposited safely onto China Beach. The whole rescue effort lasted about an hour.

Thanks to David for sharing his pics.
