CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
On Thursday Officers Ison and McWilliams made a fantastic arrest of four persons wanted for strong arm robbery on at 21st and Balboa Sts. It is listed below in Noteworthy Arrests.
We have been passing out flyers in the area of Sutter and Divisadero and the UCSF Campus warning of an uptick in robberies around midnight and early commute hours 0500 to 0730. Please pay close attention to your surroundings and avoid using phones and tablets while waiting for public transportation or walking alone. When you are not paying attention you stand out and can become a victim. We want you to avoid that.
We are thrilled to welcome six new sergeants and three new lieutenants to Richmond Stations team. This will make a big impact with our operation and we are pleased to have these talented women and men onboard.

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 06/17/13 at 5:50pm on California at Lyon, vehicles were stopped for the red light, eastbound on California. The female suspect, who was under the influence, rear ended the car in front of her which started a chain reaction, with a total of four vehicles involved. The 47 year old woman, whose preliminary breath test showed 3 times the legal limit, was charged with driving under the influence.
On 06/19/13 at 6:45am, a caller was reporting a female climbing through the window of an apartment on the 1700 block of Broderick. The female then went to the front door of the building and let in a male. The caller stated the apartment was supposed to be vacant. Officers arrived and detained 3 people. The owner of the building arrived and told the officers that no one had permission to be in the unit. The three were charged with trespassing.
On 06/18/13 at 5pm the victim was walking on Balboa approaching 22nd Ave, talking on her cell phone. She noticed the 4 suspects behind her and as she got to the corner and crossed to the other side, one of the suspects passed her. She was then suddenly grabbed from behind around her neck and dragged her to the ground. She felt a cold hard object placed on her neck and when she tried to scream, one of the suspects covered her mouth. Her phone was grabbed from her hand, and while she was being held on the ground, another suspect took her purse. The suspects fled but were seen by a witness getting on a 31 Balboa bus, inbound. The officers located the bus and 6th Ave and Balboa and detained the four suspects. The officers located the victim’s property and in a backpack belonging to one of the suspects, a pellet gun that had the orange safety tip broken off. Three female suspects, 16, 20 and 21yrs, and one male suspect, 17yrs were aLl charged with robbery, false imprisonment, possession of burglary tools and aggravated assault.
Between 06/15/13, 11:30pm and 06/16/13, 12:15pm on the 3500 block of Jackson, a suspect entered a garage, found a spare key and stole the vehicle parked inside. Inside the vehicle was clothing that had just been purchased from a store downtown and still in the bags. The victims contacted store security to tell them about the theft of the vehicle and clothing in case someone tried to return the items. On 06/18/13 at 4:20pm, a male went into that same store and tried to return the stolen items. Security was alerted and they remembered the phone call from the victim. The police were called and security followed him out of the store and to a parking lot where he entered the stolen vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and took him into custody. The 38 year old male was charged with stolen auto, possession of stolen property, fraud and a probation violation.
NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
Between 06/13/13, 6pm and 06/14/13, 8pm on the 800 block of 40th Ave, a suspect entered a home by climbing up a ladder and entering an unlocked window. The suspect took jewelry and cash.
On 06/15/13 at 1:45am, officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of 2300 Post St. Numerous officers searched the area and found shell casings, but located no victims or evidence of any vehicles or homes being hit.
On 06/15/13 at 2pm, the victim was standing on the 200 block of 23rd Ave looking at her phone. She heard someone running and felt a bump to her shoulder. The suspect grabbed her phone from her hand and fled north on 23rd Ave. He was described as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
On 06/16/13 at 3:50am, the victim was at the bus stop and Geary and Collins Sts. The two suspects approached and began a casual conversation with the victim. The victim began to feel nervous and started walking eastbound. One of the suspects called out to the victim and asked if he could borrow the phone and said he “I won’t take it.” The victim let the suspect use his phone and both walked away with the phone. The victim said he was afraid that if he didn’t let the suspect use the phone they would cause him harm. The suspect was described as a black male, 20-25yrs, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
On 06/18/13 at 12:05am, the victim was walking on Baker at Pine St. He was struck from behind on his head and pushed to the ground. While he was on the ground he looked up and saw one of the suspects holding a handgun. They demanded his property and he complied. The suspects, possibly a total of 4 fled south on Baker. The victim could only give a partial description of one male as 20-25yrs with short hair.
On 06/18/13 at 1am on the 2400 block of Sutter, the victims were walking northbound on Sutter St approaching Broderick. They saw the suspects walking east on Sutter and they crossed the street to where the victim’s were. One of the suspects slapped the victim in the face and took her purse while brandishing a handgun. The second suspect went to the second victim and grabbed her bag from her shoulder. After a “tug of war” the victim decided to let go of her bag. The suspects fled west on Sutter. They were described as black males, 20-25, one both wearing hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans.
Between 06/18/13, 8pm and 06/19/13, 6am on the 2000 block of Post St, a suspect entered an apartment through an unlocked door and took a purse and its contents. The victim was asleep at the time and did not hear anything.
On 06/19/13, between 2pm and 6:30pm on the 2800 block of Sacramento St, a suspect entered and apartment through a rear patio door. The suspect took a laptop and two watches. There were no signs of forced entry.
