CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
Members of Richmond Stations Investigations team have collaborated with neighboring agencies and solved a burglary case and a stolen auto case. Sharing information led to a confession and we are grateful to our law enforcement partners for assisting us in solving these cases. Together, our patrol team and our investigations team have been solving a number of cases. We also arrested 2 car burglars and we wrapped up numerous burglaries with the arrest of 2 suspects on different cases. Their hard work and determination is resulting in some outstanding arrests.

NOTEWORTHY ARRESTS
On 11/09/13 at 7pm, officers were riding a 38 Geary bus and were at Van Ness and O’Farrell Sts. They observed a male on the bus exit abruptly when he saw the officers. The suspect was in possession of two backpacks and a yellow bag. The officers detained the male and asked for proof of payment which the suspect could not produce. While speaking with the suspect, the bus driver exited and told the officers he needed to leave, but the suspect’s bike was still attached to the front of the bus. The bike was removed and the suspect was asked several times for his name or identification. He refused to identify himself. The officers checked his backpack which he claimed was his and found a woman’s wallet with identification in it. They also found two laptops and watches. Officers then asked that a patrol unit go by the address found on the woman’s identification which was on the 2300 block of Post St. When officers arrived the woman was not home but a neighbor was able to reach her. It was determined that the home had been burglarized after the victim left at 6pm and the property that the suspect had on the bus, including the bike, had been taken from the home. The suspect had removed a screen from a window and entered through the unlocked window. The 48 year old suspect, who was on probation and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for burglary was charged with burglary, a probation violation and possession of burglary tools.
On 11/10/13 at 9:50pm, plainclothes officers were driving north on Funston towards California St. They observed one male walking along the street with another coming from between parked cars. They met up with each other and continued to Clement St. About one minute later, a call came out about two males walking along trying the door handled of vehicles on the 100 block of 14th Ave. The description given matched the two males the plainclothes officers had just seen on Funston. Officers located the two on the 1100 block of Clement St. One of the males was on probation and when conducting a search officers located an iPod Nano and found the owners name. They contacted the owner at her home and she said that the iPod had been in her vehicle and checking her vehicle she saw that it had been rummaged through. She had left her vehicle unlocked. Officers located several other items in the suspect’s possession, a GPS, a camera, a camcorder and numerous ear buds and car chargers. The two suspects, one 22yrs, one 17yrs were charged with possession of stolen property.
Richmond Station officers and officers from the SFPD Honda Unit were made aware earlier in the week that the male who continues to vandalize trees in Golden Gate Park had been seen in the area damaging property. On 11/12/13 the male was seen by Honda officers and a plainclothes officer was notified and followed him for some time. The male was seen walking off path, in flowerbeds, breaking branches, etc. The officers detained the 65yr old male and he was charged with numerous park code violations as well as vandalism.
On 11/12/13 at 2:50am, officers were called to the 700 block of 6th Ave on a report of a male trying to break into a home from the backyard door. Officers were met in front by the tenant who told them they could get to the yard by the tradesman’s door. Officers went to the back and the suspect was still there. He was detained and recognized by officers from prior burglary arrests. The tenant told the officers that he was awakened by the sound of the door knob on the rear door being turned. He went to the window and saw the suspect at the door. Another tenant had a door that led to the back yard and while the first victim was on the phone with 911, the suspect opened the other door and began to walk in. The housemate kicked the door shut and locked it with the suspect outside. The 21 year old male was charged with attempted burglary, probation violation and possession of narcotics.
NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS
Between 11/07/13, 6pm and 11/08/13, 9am on the 500 block of 26th Ave, a suspect entered a garage and took 8 rims, 4 tires and a bike. There were no signs of forced entry.
Between 11/08/13, 9pm and 11/09/13, 7am on the 300 block of 6th Ave, a suspect entered a garage and took a bike. The victim thinks he may have left the garage door open.
Between 11/09/13, 9pm and 11/10/13, 8:30am on the 2400 block of Bush St, a suspect forced open a garage door and took two bikes.
Between 11/11/13, 4pm and 11/12/13, 7:15am on the unit block of 26th Ave, the suspect entered a home under construction and took numerous tools. The rear of the home was not secure due to the construction.
On 11/12/13, between 10:30am and 6pm on the 2000 block of Post St, a suspect entered an apartment and took 2 iPads and a laptop. There were no signs of forced entry into the building or apartment.
Between 11/12/13, 10pm and 11/13/13, 6:45am on the unit block of Parker Ave, a suspect cut a whole into the mesh of a front gate. After reaching in to open the door, the suspect took 3 baby strollers from an exterior alcove.
On 11/13/13 at 4:15pm the victim was holding her phone in her hand, listening to music at Anza and Arguello. The suspect came from behind her and grabbed the phone from her hand. He fled with a second suspect and was last seen in the area of Turk and Willard North. They were described as Hispanic males, 16-19 years, both wearing red 49er jackets and blue jeans.
On 11/13/13 at 4:45pm, the victim flagged down an officer at 4th Ave and Anza. She was bleeding from the arm and was clearly upset. Officers learned that she had just exited a 5 Fulton MUNI bus heading inbound at 4th and Fulton. Once off the bus she was knocked to the ground by the suspect. The suspect tried to get her cell phone but ended up taking her purse. A passerby apparently saw this and ran after the suspect. The passerby later returned with the victim’s purse, however cash had been taken. The victim was unsure if the suspect had exited the bus behind her or if he was on the sidewalk. The victim was transported to a local hospital to get treatment for a laceration on her arm. The suspect was described as a white male, 16yrs, wearing pink pants.
