Celebrate California Bookstore Day at Green Apple, Saturday

This Saturday May 2 is the second annual California Bookstore Day, and like last year, Green Apple Books (506 Clement) has plenty going on for book enthusiasts.

Green Apple has assembled some custom BookStore Day items like limited edition prints (including a Literary Map of the Seas by the Sunset’s 3 Fish Studios), author broadsides including one from Stephen King, bookish tea towels and more.

There’s also a host of events and giveaways taking place throughout the day:

10:30am: A storytelling workshop for kids led by volunteers from 826 Valencia.

11:30am – 1:30pm: Free custom poems by Poet-On-Demand Silvi Alcivar.

12pm to 1:00pm: Mad Libs from classic plays with young Green Applers, led by members of the Screen Actors Guild.

1:00pm: The giveaway of John Waters broadsides begins. Free to the first 80 customers who post a photo with the print and #BookstoreDay hashtag on social media.

2:30pm – 4:00pm: San Francisco Center for the Book presents a basic bookbinding workshop in the Granny Smith Room.

4:30pm – 6:00pm: Dinnerwiththekids plays bluegrass while you drink beer.

7:00pm: Samantha Schoech hosting a reading by and conversation with contributors to the anthology including Novella Carpenter, Michelle Richmond, Chris Colin, and Mary Roach.

They will also be offering free beer all day, plus other surprises. Reading has never been so fun!
