Shot back in June on Balboa, this latest ad from Nike pays tribute to the marathon runner – even the really slow ones.
“The first person who ran 26.2 miles died. He DIED. And he was a runner.”

They succeeded in exploiting the Richmond District cloudy and overcast June gloom weather.
Hey, that’s not a bad ad at all! That’s actually quite moving. I was expecting less.
It’s quite amusing to see all the people limping along towards the end with various aches and pains. Great acting all around.
Glad to see even Karl the Fog got in a cameo. 🙂
Not bad! Looking good RiDi!
I feel sore and tired just *watching* it…
@richmond resident:….except the weather has rarely been this way, even in June, all year! Water? What water? (I know, they faked it. They had to.) Interesting to read the other posts here. My thought after viewing this: What a weird ad.
That same hill where the ad opens was used as part of the chase scene for What’s Up Doc? with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neil.
