Reader Tina V. sent us these, er, interesting pics of a car that tried to take a creative exit at the Conservatory of Flowers.
In the photo, the car is grounded on the stairs that lead down from the Conservatory entrance to the Dahlia Garden below. Why it tried to go down the stairs is unknown.
Especially since there is no way to even drive right up to the Conservatory of Flowers entrance.
The car was eventually towed backwards off the stairs, and there is minor damage to the top stair from where it came into contact with the underside of the car.
Theories, readers?

drivers gonna drive.
There indeed is a way to “way to even drive right up to the Conservatory of Flowers entrance.” From Conservatory Drive West, next to the bathrooms on the west side of the Conservatory of Flowers.
Most likely drove through the service vehicle entrance and turned to the top of the stairs. From here can come up with a few theories: 1) didn’t see the stairs 2) came out to take photos and parking brakes were not on 3) tried to back up but was in wrong gear 4) actually thought they could succeed in driving off the stairs. https://www.google.com/maps/@37.7726244,-122.461096,3a,75y,110.87h,66.06t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKHC4KEG2QZuWX1RNzQowDg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
One other theory – They were using Google Maps in “walking” instead of “driving” setting 🙂
Ha ha yes of course!
I hope:
1) someone gets their license thoroughly re-examined.
2) the person or the person’s insurance is charged to repair the steps
Maybe the driver thought he was filming a movie car chase . . .
Maybe the driver is just an idiot?
These comments are gold…
I suspect alcohol was involved
“I thought this was Lombard street”
Nothing surprises me re: drivers these days
To quote Doc Brown, “Roads!? Where we’re going we don’t need ROADS!!”
Theories ? I’ll go with quantum teleportation.
I’m with the idiot theory. Surprised it doesn’t happen more often.
