Food news: “Pearl” finally opens; Fiorella team to open new cocktail bar “Violet’s Tavern”

Pizzetta 211 and Fiorella are two very popular restaurants in the neighborhood; residents clearly have a thing for pizza and Italian fare. Now, the owners of those two hot spots have embarked on new ventures in the neighborhood.

It was a long time coming, as the owners of Pearl had to transform a burned out, corner dry cleaners into a restaurant space. But the result is pretty spectacular and inviting.

EaterSF did a big writeup on Pearl, which opened in late May and has been crowded ever since. The 40 seat spot is a cafe by day offering Andytown coffee and snacks, and a full restaurant with cocktail bar by night. The dinner menu has a seafood focus, and there’s a weekend brunch menu as well. Daytime hours are 7:30am until 2pm every day, and dinner runs from 5pm until 10pm (closed Monday). Weekend brunch service will kick in starting June 16th from from 10am to 2pm. And unlike it’s big brother, Pizzetta, Pearl does accept reservations.

Violet’s Tavern is getting ready to open on Clement St.

The owners of Fiorella (and Uva Enoteca in the Haight) are also expanding their empire to another space on the very same block of Clement. Violet’s Tavern will be opening soon, offering cocktails and a raw bar. “Our focus is on reviving classic American dishes using sustainable and local ingredients. Violet’s will offer classic and house cocktails, diverse wine list, and an all SF beer list,” they wrote in one of their job listings. You can keep tabs on their progress via Instagram. @T1Diananana tipped us off on this new venture, and she’s pretty excited, tweeting, “Yessss thank you! I was wondering why it looked kinda similar on the outside and we need some nice bars here too woohoo”. UPDATE 6/13/18: Violet’s will open on June 21. [EaterSF]

Bon apetit!
