Neighbor Marian P. sent us this pic from inside her apartment at the corner of 4th and Cabrillo, where the bomb squad was set up outside just after 10am. The actual package was at the other end of the block near the intersection of Cabrillo and 5th Avenue.
We have not yet heard what the actual package was, but by 10:19am, the SFPD had tweeted again to say “The area is now clear. Regular traffic patterns should resume shortly.”
All safe and sound.
UPDATE 3:43PM: According to ABC 7 News, “The metal box contained absolutely nothing. There was another box nearby that contained radio equipment, like a transistor radio. It’s always better to err on the side of caution and do all this and make sure it is safe for the community, said Captain Michelle Jean.”
