“Timbeeeer!!” Another eucalyptus takes a dive in the Park Presidio greenbelt

Given how much it has been raining this week, it shouldn’t be a surprise that one of the eucalyptus trees in the Park Presidio greenbelt surrendered to the elements and toppled over on Thursday around 12:30pm.

Reader Kenji K. sent us these photos of the grand ol’ dame that fell onto a parked truck along the 500 block of 14th Avenue, near Balboa.

We’ve seen bigger ones take a dive, but still sad to see our greenbelt de-foresting itself…

  1. This tree has been dropping large branches for the last year and has a significant stress crease in one of the remaining very large branches. On the other end of the block another problematic euc dropped a moderate branch about a month ago – luckily not hitting anybody/property. That one too has been regularly dropping large limbs this past year. It seems like there is some questions that could be raised as to whether the aborists assessment of these old trees is either too rosy or is not being heeded due to budget or other concerns.

  2. Jeffrey- you know, you can call 311 if you notice something like that. Might have saved someone the agony of needing his truck repaired. Just saying
