CAPTAIN SHARON FERRIGNO’S MESSAGE
Last night 39 members of the San Francisco Police Department were awarded Medals of Honor for acts of heroism in protecting the public and taking action when no other would sense it. Congratulations to the seven officers who were awarded the silver medal of valor. The requirement for a silver Medal of Valor is to risk one’s life with full and unquestionable knowledge of the danger, when a reasonable person would assume that their life was in great danger. Thirty two officers were awarded the bronze medal of valor. The ceremony was held at the Legion of Honor.

This Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 10:30am, we will celebrate the Police-Fire Mass at St. Monica’s Church on Geary BlVD. It’s a time in which we can reflect on those who have recently passed, celebrate those amongst us and be grateful for all we have. The mass is open to the public if you would like to attend.

Our next Community meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 6pm. It will be in the Community Room, here at Richmond Station, 461 6th Ave.

  1. Uh, since when are Sutter and Bush streets part of the Richmond district?

  2. The Richmond District Police Station covers an area larger than what realtors and elections define as the Richmond District.

  3. I was one of the people who was involved in the first “notable arrest”. The guy was trying to pry open the trunk of my brother’s car when I pulled up. Luckily a neighbor was calling the cops and they showed up pretty quickly (less than 5 minutes). Glad to see the guy went to jail. But not surprised that he went for his warrants and not attempted burglary.

  4. Sorry. I should have said “disappointed that he didn’t also get charged with attempted auto burglary”.

  5. Tom –

Pretty sure it was because there was no damage and it’d be hard to actually prove anything in court. But at least they got him on the warrants. Hopefully those’ll keep him off the street for a while and unable to mess with other peoples stuff.

How do I find out when this loser is going to be arraigned? Anyone know? I would like to meet briefly with – make a point to – the prosecuting DA about sending a SEVERE message to the jerks who continue to tag property in the Richmond. Or, any other ideas on how I can find out/reach out to the prosecuting attorney – perhaps via phone.

  7. Police going door to door on 40th avenue looking for suspect on flyer. I’d never seen him before anyone know history?

  8. of the “noteworthy incidents” listed above, the 3 suspects whose races are known represent pretty much 0% of the racial makeup of the richmond district. this is where racial profiling is indeed useful, if not politically correct. i want to think of myself as non-racist, but given these police blotter reports, one cannot help but think….
