Green Apple is turning 51 and wants to celebrate

On the weekend of October 13 & 14, Green Apple Books at 506 Clement Street will celebrate 51 years in business. They’re offering some great incentives for you to stop by and wish them well including 10% off store-wide, a spin the prize wheel with any purchase (10am – 4pm), and $34 gets you a $51 gift card (for use after 10/1/2018; limit one per customer). Know someone who’s never stood in the stacks of this great bookstore? Bring a newbie into the store and they’ll get a $15 gift card and you’ll get a free tote bag (first 200 people each day only). Happy birthday, Green Apple!

Supervisor Fewer’s Tour of the Richmond District

Our District 1 Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer gave SFGov TV her tour of the Richmond District, where she has lived since she was 2 years old. Watch below to find out Fewer’s favorite parts of the neighborhood and her food shopping tips:

Meeting on Homelessness, November 1

Mark your calendars for the third installment for the discussion around homelessness in the Richmond District. On November 1 at 6:00pm at the Golden Gate Park Senior Center (6101 Fulton), Supervisor Fewer’s office will host a meeting with representatives from the Department of Housing & Supportive Housing, Project Homeless Connect, SFPD, GGNRA, Rec & Park, DPH, and DPW about the Healthy Streets Operation Center (HSOC)’s plan to reduce homelessness. Fewer says she is working on “a dedicated homeless outreach team and secure funds for mobile homeless services in District 1.”

New YIMBY Political Action Group

Reader Pawel sent us a video with some nice shots of the Richmond District, albeit a thinly veiled effort to introduce us to a new political action group in San Francisco called YIMBY Action (Yes In My Backyard). 😉 The group is pro-neighbors (e.g. more housing, more neighbors), and has made their endorsements for the upcoming November election.

  1. fewer took a tour? did she note that the vacancies that she claimed to care about are still there?

  2. And did she gush over the monstrosity that is the Geary/19th “improvement project” that looks like it ran out of money and vision?
