Forget walking and chewing gum. Can you hula hoop and read?

On Saturday, the Richmond District branch library is hosting a Hula Hoop Readathon, inviting kids age 3-12 to try hula hooping and reading at the same time to win prizes.

You don’t have to be a pro – every kid earns a prize just for trying. But there might be some stiff competition. Word on the street is that the Richmond branch librarian is a pretty hip hula-hooper (“She can hula hoop and read at the same time for a REALLY LONG TIME!”).

The event will be held from 2-3pm on the lawn outside the 10th Avenue entrance (between Clement and Geary). Hoops will be provided, or bring your own!
